Schafer offers three levels of service: Screening Assessments for properties with no suspected meth use, Preliminary Assessments for suspected contamination to define its extent and guide remediation, and Clearance Sampling after cleanup to verify the property meets regulatory standards for safe reoccupation.

Methamphetamine Sampling

Schafer is a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Methamphetamine-Affected Property Consulting Firm with one CDPHE certified Methamphetamine Consultant on staff.

Prior to arriving at the project site, Schafer will communicate with the client to obtain information about the property. Schafer will develop a sampling analysis plan using the client provided information. Our experienced team will make observations of conditions in and around the property, collect samples, and interview on-site residents or personnel. Collected samples are then submitted to an accredited laboratory for analysis. Upon receiving results, Scahfer will communicate with the client to discuss results and further actions required if applicable. A report will be provided to the client within five business days following the receipt of the laboratory analytical data.

Methamphetamine sampling is a non-destructive wipe sampling procedure that represents the level of contamination on surfaces at the project site. Sampling media is utilized to collect surface level samples in adherence to applicable regulations.

Screening Assessment

Schafer has the experience and knowledge of methamphetamine affected properties to perform screening assessment services. Screening assessments are often utilized in the real-estate industry to ensure properties are not contaminated with methamphetamine before finalizing transactions. This type of assessment is performed on properties that have no suspect methamphetamine use and/or production. If methamphetamine detection is recorded through laboratory data, Schafer will help clients navigate the next steps.

Preliminary Assessment

Preliminary assessment sampling services are provided when the client suspects methamphetamine use and/or production at the project site. Schafer performs sampling services in accordance with clearance sampling standards to provide our clients with detailed findings. This assessment can delineate the extent of methamphetamine contamination and provide decontamination contractors with the information needed to perform remediation services.

Clearance Sampling

Clearance sampling is conducted after decontamination services are performed to confirm that the regulated clearance standard has been met. This involves collecting samples on surfaces, appliances, and/or air systems to ensure that the space can be safely reoccupied.
